• Phi Alpha Theta - Eta Nu Chapter

    Phi Alpha Theta is the nation's oldest and largest history honor society. The Eta Nu Chapter at Texas Woman's University is one of nearly 900 Phi Alpha Theta chapters on college and university campus across the country. Membership in the Eta Nu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is open to undergraduate and graduate students regardless of major.

    For more than 50 years, the Eta Nu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta has provided scholarly and social enrichment to its members. The chapter welcomes nearly forty new members each year. Our members come from a wide variety of majors across the university (most are not history majors). They are united by a common interest in the past and a shared commitment to academic excellence.

  • Phi Alpha Theta - Eta Nu Chapter

    Annually, the chapter sponsors field trips to historic sites, movie nights, and a very popular lunchtime lecture series. In addition, the chapter strongly encourages its members to present research papers at regional and national Phi Alpha Theta conferences. The Eta Nu Chapter has sent large delegations of student presenters to conferences in Orlando, San Diego, Albuquerque, and to the Texas cities of Abilene, Sherman, Fort Worth, and Commerce.

    In the past, the chapter has provided generous scholarships to assist students in attending these important scholarly meetings. The Eta Nu Chapter annually publishes a peer-reviewed journal, Ibid.: A Student History Journal, that showcases the best in student scholarship.
