Phi Alpha Theta is pleased to announce the continuation of its annual Doctoral Scholarship program for advanced study by graduate student members who are pursuing a Ph.D. in History or Library Science-Archives and who have passed general examinations by February 15, 2024. Applicant must be a verified member of Phi Alpha Theta and will be considered for one of the following three awards:
- The John T. Maple Scholarship of $1,000
- The John Pine Memorial Award of $1,000
- Two additional awards of $850 each
Submit a copy of your completed Doctoral Student Scholarship Application and supporting materials either electronically via email to or by mail to:

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all required documentation is received by the competition deadline. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline or by individuals whose membership in Phi Alpha Theta cannot be verified will not be considered for the competition.
