Recognizing Excellence in Historical Scholarship
Phi Alpha Theta honors outstanding achievements in historical research, writing, and service through our comprehensive awards program. Explore opportunities for undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty advisors, and chapters.
All academic work, theses, dissertations, and contributions of others must be appropriately acknowledged, and work that is presented in original must in fact be original. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as ChatGPT will likely create significant breakthroughs in a wide range of fields, using or AI-content generator to produce scholarly work without proper attribution or authorization is a form of academic dishonesty.
In accepting scholarly work for conference presentations, prize/award consideration, or publication in The Historian, Phi Alpha Theta expects its members to uphold the honorable standards of our Society by researching, composing, and submitting their own original work. In this way, faculty and student members of the Phi Alpha Theta can all share in reserving and protecting the integrity and earnest of our Society's intellectual enterprise.
If you have questions about any of our awards or the application process, please contact the Phi Alpha Theta national office. We're here to help you navigate the submission process and answer any questions you may have.
